Here are some of my recent creations using Laurie's techniques. This one is my first larger box. Its a blank canvas box about 7" square. I'm on the search for more of these boxes but no luck so far.
This one is a I put together on the fly. No particular theme or palette in mind. Sometimes that's the best way to go.
This box was a commissioned piece for a male friend, hence the more masculine colors. He wanted a box for papers to keep on his counter. I really, really love the way this one came out. (I wonder if he'll ever see it???)
My next box will be a wine theme for a friend/customer. (I wonder if he'll ever see that one? Sorry Jim!) lol
More to come so stay tuned!
Happy Arting,
Patti
Stunning work, Patti! I love them all. The last one is gorgeous with the blue beads. They are all swoon-worthy!
ReplyDelete...Raine
Thanks Raine. I love those turquoise beads with all the silver and black too. Really pops in person.
DeleteWow!! Fabulous Patti, Patti!!
ReplyDeleteTake care and STAY POSITIVE!
Thanks so much Trena!
DeletePatti, I love the last one. Where do you get the jewel on the side? Love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Karenliz. Most are from Michael's, not sure which one you mean exactly.
DeleteDuh, just realized you said the last one! That was definitely from Michaels.
DeleteYou know I'm a huge fan of your gelli plate creations, but this just blows that right out of the water! I've read Laurie Mika's book on my Kindle, but need to get the paperback copy. The last I had checked, which was months ago, the used copies were going for something like $60 (lowest price...ouch!). It appears to have come down quite a bit since I last checked though. Beautiful clay work, Patti!
ReplyDeleteHey Kim. Thanks so much. These are addicting for sure. Love Laurie's book. Hope you can find a copy.
DeletePatti, If you're on the look out for good sturdy boxes, might I suggest a cigar shop? Most of them keep the boxes and sell them for a nominal fee....the one near my home sells the paper ones for $1 and the wood ones for $3...of course, if they're metal or very "fancy" they can be $5 or more, but generally well worth it
ReplyDeleteHi Melody. I actually have a dear friend who owned a cigar shop and before they closed she hooked me up with more boxes than I'll ever be able to make. I haven't tiled any cigar boxes as yet, but she also brought me some wood ones that I plan to tile. I have altered the cigar boxes by covering them with scrapbook paper and embellishing them. I posted some pics of the ones I made some time ago. Thanks for the note! Happy you found me!
